Geographically, Thailand is located in the centre of the Indochinese peninsula in Southeast Asia, covering an area of approximately 514,000 square kilometers (200,000 sq miles). The country has a distinctively tropical climate: monsoon rains fall mainly from May to July and cooler, drier weather occurs around November and December.

Thailand is blessed by nature with diverse natural resources, including a wide variety of flora and fauna, and distinct ecosystem ranging from the temperate forests, fertile plains to the savannahs and the mangrove forests. The country offers nature lovers favorable opportunity to see wildlife with over 100 national parks, including more than 20 marine parks with outstanding facilities. Those interested in trekking, mountain biking, birding, scuba diving, or discover exotic animals in Thailand have vast array to choose from. Thailand is also famous for its breathtaking islands and heavenly beaches which are ideal places to unwind and relax.

Thailand is a festive kingdom with numerous fascinating national and provincial festivals. Thai architecture is also a highlight of the country. It features a large number of Buddhist temples and religious complexes, a reflection of the country's widespread Buddhist traditions. Even in small, countryside temples, it's not uncommon to find examples of stunning art and sculpture.

Thailand also possesses mysterious ruins and archaeological sites waiting to be explored and the splendid palaces and other historical sites. Visiting these spots, tourists have chance to explore the Kingdom’s rich history and its interaction with the outside world over the centuries.
