Tom Yam Goong (Spicy Shrimp Soup)

Tom Yam Goong is possibly the most well-known Thai soup which is not only in Thailand but also in the worldwide Thai restaurants. It's the national aroma and the optimal dish of Thai gourmet thanks to its diverse fragrant herbs.

It is a mixed soup with strong taste of sourness, spiciness and flavored with perfumed herbs as kaffir lime leaves, lemon grass, shallot, chilly pepper, galangal, and tamarind, which make it a perfect start for a meal or a worthy main cuisine with rice.

There are two types of of Tom Yam, the thick tasty soup and the clear tasty soup. The latter is processed by adding to broth with milk or coconut milk so as to richen the stock and offer the milder flavor to the dish. Tom Yam is a versatile dish which can be processed with fish, prawns, chicken, mushroom and seafood. Tom Yam Goong is the best-known Tom Yam’s variety thanks to the original spicy Shrimp Soup. Tom Yam Goong is really a representative dish of Thailand.

Thai food is known for utilizing numerous health spices and herbs such as ginger, pepper, or garlic which can prevent high cholesterol, cancer, heart disease and high blood pressure, etc. Tom Yam soup not only brings the authentic taste of flavor but also offers medical treatment.
