Take an early morning flight to Khon Kaen, where your guide will meet you and take you to your hotel. In the afternoon take in the main sights to learn more about this region of Thailand, where the world’s first Bronze Age civilization was believed to have flourished over 5,000 years ago. Visit the National Museum, Hong Mun Mang and the Khon Kaen City Museum. Continue to Phra That Kham Kaen, which roughly translates as ‘the Stupa of Tamarind Heartwood’ before returning to your hotel.

This morning visit Ban Kho Sa Nga to learn about traditional medicines and why king cobras are kept in each house. Continue to Non Mueang Ancient Town where archaeologists found evidence of human settlement dating back 2,500 years. Continue on to Phu Wiang National Park where in 1976 a uranium survey discovered a piece of fossil which was declared to be the left knee of a dinosaur.

An early morning drive takes you to Udon Thani. Once checked into your hotel spend the rest of the morning at Ban Chiang National Museum which exhibits artefacts from 4,000 – 7,000 years ago. The museum also houses the Fine Arts Department which displays earthenware pots and other items that were buried along with the dead.
